The 50:HERTZ Club Train at ADE 2024

At the time of writing this, the 50:HERTZ Club Train should be returning to Amsterdam Centraal after its final trip for the weekend. The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is held every October with conferences and festivals for professionals in the industry and festivalgoers. This year 50:HERTZ organised the “Club Train” consisting of eight separate 4-ish hour trips all starting and ending at Amsterdam Centraal. The trips were between Friday 18th October and Sunday 20th October each with their line-up of DJs with stages (or clubs) per train ride. The line-up and times can be found on the ADE website but I’ll also summarise the list here:

Friday, October 18

Sunday, October 20

A good spread of time over the three days although I can imagine traveling to the 05:30 performances would be difficult as most trains on the weekend only begin service around that time. The Saturday morning ride was the odd one out in that, according to the ADE website, it began at Amsterdam Zuid with the option to disembark at Zuid or Centraal at the end of the trip.

The locomotives, rail staff and logistics for the event were provided by Railexperts. My wife and I managed to catch the 18:30 train arriving and leaving Amsterdam Centraal on Friday. We were pleasantly surprised by the Tommie & Tess locomotive (RXP 9902) used along with the Alstom 1600 - Rail Adventure (RXP 9903) locomotive. The train arrived from the direction of Science Park into Amsterdam Centraal to platform 5b at 18:18 with three passenger carriages one of which was an NMBS I11. After security checks and boarding the train then leaves towards Science Park with a 4-minute delay at 18:34.

Coincidentally, we ran into the Club Train at Amsterdam Centraal on Saturday as well this time as it returned from its 12:00 trip. After dropping the passengers off the train leaves in the direction of Science Park at 16:17 from platform 5b. This time locomotives RXP 9901 and 9902 are used with 5 passenger carriages, three of which are NMBS I11s.
