Eurostar Snow and Travelski Night Express

Eurostar released the schedule for its winter ski season, earlier this month, the “Eurostar Snow”. Since I covered what the inaugural Travelski Night Express service would look like, it would be interesting to compare it against the now established Eurostar Snow.

Eurostar Snow begins their seasonal service on 19 December 2026, offering a train to and from Amsterdam and Bourg-Saint-Maurice every Saturday. The train departs at 05:24 from Amsterdam Centraal and arrives at Bourg-Saint-Maurice at 14:41; that’s a total of 9 hours and 17 minutes. The return train departs Bourg-Saint-Maurice at 15:25 and arrives at Amsterdam at 00:20, with an 8-hour and 55-minute travel time. While the journey is much shorter than the roughly 14 and a half hours with Travelski, it puts the start and arrival times at Amsterdam at uncomfortable hours.

The route Eurostar offers goes through Schiphol Airport, Rotterdam Centraal, Antwerpen Centraal, Brussel-Zuid, Chambéry - Challes-les-Eaux, Albertville, Moûtiers - Salins - Brides-les-Bains, Aime-la-Plagne, and Landry, with the termini at Amsterdam and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. This allows for an extra boarding opportunity at Schiphol Airport and drop-off locations at Chambéry - Challes-les-Eaux, Albertville, and Landry not possible with Travelski.

At the time of writing this, a one-way ticket from Amsterdam to Bourg-Saint-Maurice starts at 140 euros; that’s only slightly cheaper than the 168 euro ticket I noted at the Travelski launch announcement.

The return trips with Eurostar start the Saturday after the first outbound trip on 26 December 2026 and end the Saturday after the last outbound trip, on 10 April 2027. This comes to a total of 16 outbound trips for the season, one more than Travelski. The schedule also means at minimum an entire week of skiing in the French Alps, just like with Travelski.

Also like Travelski, this isn’t Eurostar’s only route; they will also run trains between Brussel-Zuid and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, in addition to the Amsterdam service. These will also depart on Saturdays, with some Sunday services, although I was not able to find them on the booking calendar. Travelski runs its other service from Paris - Gare de Lyon to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, and this will be its second year doing so.

As for rolling stock, Eurostar will use its usual TGV PBA and PBKA trains, which have a capacity for 404 passengers. From looking at pictures on treinposities from last season, it looks like Eurostar runs two coupled together, giving us a total of 808 seats. As for Travelski, it’s hard to grasp their total capacity, but they have communicated in a press release that they depart Amsterdam with 400 berths. Their booking site shows berth sizes of four or six, with options for private rooms and seats.

I hope to find more comparisons and information about both of these services in the upcoming season. These winter services don’t get a lot of coverage, so it’s always interesting to see actual travel reviews, pictures or videos from them.
